Trail will be between 15 and 20 miles (more information on trail to be posted later). Cash prizes will be given out at the Beaver Round-up Awards Ceremony on the evening of the 16th. Interested mushers should contact Kyle Belleque at 842-5374. Check back for race rules and purse breakdown. For Mushing Fans: The Western has been the backbone of Beaver Round-up since the beginning. For 50 years Bristol Bay mushers have gathered in Dillingham each spring pitting the best against the best. The race begins on the Lilly Pond near downtown Dillingham. Mushers and their teams can also be watched “on the move” from Waskey Road. Most fans watch the mushers leave the starting chute, drive to Waskey Road and then return to the Lilly Pond to watch the finishers. Join us for the 50th running of the Western Alaska Championship Sled Dog Race! |
