Peter Pan Cannery
Tours
Take a walk back into history and tour one of our Nations oldest operating canneries. Established in 1901 while the cannery has been modernized over the years, signs of its history are not far away. Tours will begin on June 20, and will start at 1 p.m. please contact the Chamber for more information.
The last tour was on July 18, they will start again next summer.
SWAMC Passes Energy Resolutions
The Southwest Alaska Municipal Conference at it's annual meeting in January passed 4 Resolutions that directly address the energy crisis facing rural Alaskans.
Resolution 07-07 supports the Establishment of a Renewable
Energy Fund for Alaska. Resolution 07-09 supports Renewable Energy, Fuel Reduction, and Economic Stabilization and Enhancement Act of 2007 (REFRESH Act) and Improved Passenger Automobile Fuel Economy Act of 2007. Resolution 07-11 supports further studies in Wave and Tidal Resource Potential for the State of Alaska. Resolution 07-12 supports the Establishment of a "Bounty System" to Buy Retired, Energy-Wasting Appliances.
Alaska State Chamber Takes a Stand in Juneau
Each year members of the State Chamber of Commerce meet to set a list of priorities important to sustaining a healthy business community that they present to our legislators in Juneau.
